Today's show continues the conversation on the power of the Co-Development of Processes, Products, and Services. We will focus on Part 2 - how to become un-copy-able. Every aspect of your business is both different and better than the competition. Why? Because if you don't innovate and stay ahead, copying will bring your competitors to parity and a price war.

PROFIT RADIO - "A Network of Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs"

INTRODUCTION
This process is messy because it requires 2 Approaches - Inside Out & Inside In with much overlap and iterations to finalize the list. The approach I have used is to have two groups work on the problem. One group starts with the customer and works backward while the other works from inhouse expertise for process improvements and the production of Sigma 3 products and services.

OBJECTIVES
The way to start is to make a mess, then clean it up. We will cover how to start co-development with customers (or new customers - intrigued?) while bringing the best internal minds together.

Owner/Executive Perspective
  1. How to select a co-development partner?
  2. How to co-develop with them?
  3. How to start from our areas of expertise?
  4. How to test?

The Concept of P and F Teams
  • F Teams: Multilevel Teams focused on the Future and comprised Research, Marketing, Finance, etc. Functions
  • P Teams: Multilevel Teams focused on the Present and comprised Operations, Production, Service, etc. Functions

What You Need to Do
  1. Select Current or New Customer for Improvement Project
  2. Create Agile Project Teams to apply the research during the process
  3. Create Standards for process and results evaluation
    1. Output from Improvement Project is presold
    2. Output from Improvement Project maintains or improves position as LCP
    3. Output from Improvement Project expands Market Leadership from previous position
    4. Output from Improvement Project is more difficult to copy
    5. Output from Improvement Project enhances internal functioning
    6. Output from Improvement Project increases both Revenue and Margins

Next Week - Discipline #9 - Part 3: We close out the last Discipline by revisiting Lowest Cost Producer / Sigma 3 to ensure the final solutions - the combination of improvements in Processes, Products, and Services is executable and scalable.
