Introduction: I am Sadika Kebbi, your host, coming to you live from Beirut, Lebanon. As a business consultant, I have learned over the years that motivation is key to get your employees on the same page for executing the company’s mission. Whatever the organization’s motive it has to compel your team to act. Reasons and objectives give us impetus—the force that drives us forward. Of course life is not quite so straightforward—there are challenges to overcome. Motivation is easily lost, and people are prone to wasting time. However, learning to motivate your team is possible. Motivation changes thoughts, which helps us consider what to do next, plan our next move and commit to take action. Motivation changes emotions, and thus we can feel willingness, desire, and intention. Motivation changes behavior, and we start acting towards our aim, not only that but we actually take action when the moment comes. Achieving worthwhile goals takes effort and persistence. For more information go to our website at IBGR.network and download the show notes. Show Objectives: 1- Choosing the right goal. 2- Setting well-formed goals. 3- SMART goals. 4- Identifying your goal time. 5- Identifying Demotivating challenges. 6- Overcoming demotivating behavior. Key Issues: 1- What is your goal? 2- Creating your compelling vision statement. 3- Creating an action plan. 4- Ordering the tasks. 5- Mapping your time. 6- Optimizing your time. 7- The anatomy of motivation. 8- Conflict and distraction. 9- Inconsistent behavior. 10- Overriding demotivating challenges. What you need to know: Motivation cannot exist without a motive. Your goals should seem genuinely rewarding to get your team on the same page. Otherwise, what is the point? For instance, you might like the idea of your team being more organized. It would certainly improve their performance. However, sustaining their motivation will prove difficult without a compelling reason. Merely liking the idea is not enough. Clearly defined goals improve motivation. Your team would know what they are aiming for, and that fosters focus and accountability. Achieving the company’s goals will take time, so your employees need to know when to act. Without this clarity, they are likely to drift. There would be no urgency or purpose, and they will drift from that same page you want to create. 1- Know what you want to do. 2- Know why you want to do it. 3- Know what steps to take. 4- Know when to take those steps.
