Episode Title – Beginning Your Own Strategic Referral Team

​Introduction

Referral marketing is all about getting others to say good things about you when you’re not around. So building a team who are all on the lookout for opportunities to say great things about you makes perfect sense.

If other referral marketing avenues are not working for you, you may like to learn a little about putting your own team together. Once trained, each team becomes a business community capable of sustaining itself by generating referrals into the future.

Show Objectives

This show outlines the process that leads to the formation of Strategic Referral Teams and teaches why referrals matter so much to business owners.

What You Need to Know 
SRTs are like no other form of group referral marketing because – 
  • They are formed by bringing together business owner’s networks so the right relationships already exist,
  • They are made up of 6 – 10 business owners who service the same target market,
  • There is only one profession per category, 
  • They are not aligned with any organisation,
  • There are no membership fees, 
  • Your meetings are not recruitment tools for a parent organisation, 
  • Your meetings are referral generation strategy sessions,
  • You are not forced to bring visitors,
  • Your group sets its own culture and standards,
  • You meet according to your group’s schedule,
  • They are free-standing entities controlled by the members,
  • Members are highly trained in the art and science of referral marketing, 
  • External group management and guidance is available.


What You Need to Do
When formed, Strategic Referral Teams will remarkably improve the number of referrals members receive. If you are considering putting together your own SRT, contact a referral marketing expert who’s fully conversant with their structure, referral marketing strategies, how they work and the traps to avoid.
