Introduction
In a time where the job market is competitive and having a job is no longer “the main thing” for getting out of bed, the Million Dollar Question is once you have the people part in place how do you retain them and keep your people interested? 

In this season we have focussed on the fundamentals of providing clarity, communication, collaboration resulting in a workforce who are confident and committed. 

Celebration and recognition are now on the menu to explore. Do you celebrate and reward the wins across the board in your business? Do you know how your team likes to be recognised? Based on people's values there will be different ways to do so, learn what it is. For some it is monetary, for others a simple thank you would suffice. The key here is to know your people and what is important to them. 

In this episode we explore the importance of rewarding your people, reasons to recognize them and how to make this part of your business strategy. Like anything we do in Business you need some sort of a strategy and it takes effort on your part. People yearn for belonging, connection and having a feeling that what they do matters. 

Recognizing and rewarding your people's efforts is not only good for business but it also enhances trust and increases engagement. In teams where people get recognized the level of output is higher and the bottom line healthier.

3. Innovation 

Ideas for recognition 

• Flexible working hours
• A contribution to one of their causes if they have one
• An activity they appreciate that can stimulate their well being 
• Provide training programs, eg. how to build your wealth or how to deal with pressures  
• Saying Thank you or writing thank you notes 
• Remembering some of the important dates
• Booking in a one on one
• If you know someone has worked extensive hours perhaps gift them a breakfast for them and their family/partner

What you need to do:

• Be authentic 
• Be consistent
• Know your people
• Create a plan 
• Allow funds in your budget to execute
• Small gestures go a long way
• Recognise for the right reasons
