It is always an interesting time when you close something out so you can open something new. Part of that is a retrospective of lessons learned and the rest of what is going to be different. That is my story this week.

Let’s start with the past and make this read like an end of year report.
  • We have been on the air for 9 months - 3 business quarters or 3 Seasons
  • We went from 30 hours a week of live broadcasting from the North American Market and replayed internationally
  • Our Market (Geographic) Breakdown
    • North America (Canada, United States, Caribbean, Belize)
    • Australasia (Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan
    • South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka)
    • Prime Meridian (UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa)
  • Our Market (Buying Persona) breakdown
    • Generation B (Boomers) - focus on growing the business to sell
    • Generation X - focus on startups and growth
    • Generation M (Millennials) focus on startups and growth
    • Generation Y - focus on startups
  • Our model (small business consulting delivered by internet radio) requires building both supply (hosts & programming) and demand (business owner listeners), we built supply first
    • 1 Host in North America doing 30 hours a week and rebroadcasted in Season 1 to 43 broadcasters in all 4 geographic markets in Season 3 and 152 countries
    • The broadcast week was organized into 5 days based on a balanced scorecard

      • Friday - Owner as Executive
    • Each of the OnAir hosts are successful entrepreneurs and business owners sticking to the areas of expertise
  • Our business model is a combination of subscription product & service sales, advertising, and air time built on a 3 part Value Ladder

      • Level 1 - $100/year

  • Our listenership has increased from 1 (an IBGR Studio Engineer) to approximately 1000 per month. Website visits parallel those numbers, which means over 90% of our visits are for listening.
  • Based up review of Season 2 performance, we added two more features to the listeners experience:
    • IBGR.Community - designed to create a space for interaction between listeners and OnAir Hosts, the goal - close the loop between knowing and doing
    • IBGR.APP - designed to provide an on the job app for the entrepreneur to access our support on demand
  • We added our eCommerce store in Season 3 - IBGR.Shop

Season 4 - Application of Lessons Learned
  1. Change how buying personas are segmented. We are moving from Generation/Market to:
    1. 5.15.80 Model developed by parent company gWORX
      1. 5% - Elite Entrepreneurs/Owners - market leaders
      2. 15% - Successful Entrepreneurs/Owners - trying to become the 5%
      3. 80% - Struggling Entrepreneurs/Owners - trying to hang on, running zombie company’s
    2. Entrepreneurs/Owners who can identify an opportunity and aggressively take advantage of it.
  2. Upgrade OnAir Hosts presence.
    1. Our OnAir talent ate subject matter experts - develop them into syndicatable talent for business talk venues
    2. Promote our best as Thought Leaders in their respective areas of expertise
  3. Shift internal emphasis from Operations and Programming (Supply) - the core of a radio station to Demand
    1. Increase social media presence to create awareness of the community for entrepreneurs/owners
      1. Platform run by adults without agenda
      2. Platform entrepreneur/owners can build their business on
    2. Build a community that is both a safe harbor from government/regulatory overreach and a resource to success in that environment ​​
