Introduction
This is the second show of Season 3 in our People Lane at IBGR Network. In this block we are talking to Stage III business owners. In Stage III, you have been experiencing growth of your company and consistent revenue. Stage III topics prepare you to grow to Stage IV while giving you strategies for maximizing results in your current stage. Check out the other shows in this series. 

The key to successful individual excellence lies in the combination of a person’s behaviour, values and personal skills. When business owners step into the next level of leadership it becomes about developing, growing and empowering your people. Build your Core is about developing clarity and strengthening, building a strong  foundation that will lead you and your people to business success.

Show Objectives
Core values represent what you stand for as an organisation, it is part of your culture and your external brand type.  They function as a guide and provide people with an understanding of what is acceptable and what not. 

Whilst business owners often create the initial core values and live and breath them, it is important we ensure it trickles down the entire organization. 


Company Values/Core Values - Employee Perspective
  1. I understand where the company wants to be in the future and I can envision myself a part of it - I understand the why
  2. I understand what value we provide to whom (mission statement) and how my performance is part of it
  3. I understand what is acceptable and unacceptable (values or operating principles) behavior in the treatment of customers and other employees

Company Values - Owner Perspective
  1. I have made my vision for the future of the company understandable to all employees - everybody understands our why and this is well communicated
  2. Everyone understands how we make money - what value do we provide to whom and when (mission statement) and can see how their position contributes 
  3. I have made clear what behaviors are acceptable and unacceptable in the treatment of the business, customers, and employees (values or operating principles), everyone understands why those values are important and what it looks like in our daily business lives

What You Need to Do
  1. Live and lead by example
  2. Be consistent
  3. Perform a culture check
  4. Teach company values through orientation/training
  5. Reinforce company values in all communication (what forms of communication do we use)
  6. Recognize and reward values-centric behaviors
  7. Incorporate company values into your sales process
  8. Incorporate company values into your hiring process
  9. Incorporate company values into your performance review process
  10. Terminate people who violate company core values
  11. Ensure alignment between internal and external messaging
