Episode 10: EE FAQ

Segment 1: FAQ Section 1

  1. What is the Engagement Equity Concept?

Think of each relationship, either singular or collective, as a bank account.

Eg: You have an employee whose name you barely know, you never talk to, you treat the same way as you treat everyone else who works for you. You have a big project and ask that employee to stay late to finish it, even though they won’t get paid any extra because they are on salary. How do you think that employee would react?

Now, imagine this same scenario, except you’ve taken the time to get to know this employee. You took her out for coffee after she was hired, you meet with her a couple of times a month to see how things are going, you know her name, her kids’ names, and that she likes Starbucks gift cards as a thank you for a job well done. Now what happens when you ask her to stay late?

  1. How is this different from other relationship building?

What have you done for me lately
Tit for tat

  1. Where can Engagement Equity be used?

Leadership
Coworkers
Networking (random and recurring—collective and singular)
Relationships
Friendships
Parenting
Strangers
WITH YOURSELF

Segment 2: FAQ Section 2: Power Players

  1. What are Power Players?

Ways to give value that are universal—everyone appreciates them (to different levels).

  1. What are the specific players?

Curiosity
Listening
Sharing
The Platinum Rule
The Ask
Closing the Account

  1. What is the concept of radiating outward?

Segment 3: FAQ Section 3: EE and Marketing

  1. How can you use EE in social media marketing?
  2. How can you use EE in other online marketing?
Websites—make them user-friendly, keep the target client in mind
Ads-don’t make them too in-your-face or obtrusive—know what pain points your target market has and try to solve them
Use CRM and lead gen so you don’t treat all your prospects/clients the same—learn how they want to be marketed to
  1. How do you use EE to lead your customers through the buyer’s journey?

Joey Coleman, never lost a customer again
  1. Assess—they decide if they want to do business with you
  2. Admit—they buy
  3. Affirm—buyer’s remorse
  4. Activate—you deliver on your promises
  5. Acclimate—Your customers figure out how to best use your products/services
  6. Accomplish—your customers achieve results
  7. Adopt—your customer adopts your brand as a part of their life
  8. Advocate—they begin to sell for you

Big thing: don’t quit with EE after phase 2! Continue to learn about your customers, talk to them, see how you can help them use your product service, be a resource…

Segment 4: FAQ Section 3: EE in Relationships

  1. How do you use EE in building networking relationships?

Recurring vs random
Recurring: show up for the groups (physically and mentally), give value by speaking, providing leads and tips to others, talking up others in the group, not dominating the group
Random: choose one or two people you want to build a relationship with and quickly earn the right to ask them for another meeting

Singular vs collective

Collective: give value to the group as a whole
Singular: do one to ones so you can get to know individual members and can then practice The Platinum Rule

  1. How do you use EE to build relationships in the workplace?

Be a Giver (Give and Take by Adam Grant)
As a leader, realize a paycheck is NOT giving value (the paycheck and what the employee agrees to do to earn the paycheck is a contract. You need to go above and beyond to give value)

  1. Can EE be used in personal relationships and how?

Yes. Significant others—continue to get to know them and learn about them throughout the relationship. We make the mistake of thinking we KNOW the ones closest to us and that we don’t have to work on it any longer.
Eg: Todd—things that used to be triggers and I had to tiptoe around, he’s worked on. If I still treat him like that, he gets angry because I’m not acknowledging his growth. Eg of wanting to meet with Patrick and his wife…

  1. Can EE be used to build a better relationship with yourself?
This is the most important part of the whole concept—radiate outward. How?
--Get to know yourself. Intro or extro? Social gas tank? What gives you energy and what takes it away?
--Learn to say no
--Take time for you—whatever that means
--Help others get to know you
--Understand that you can be happy even when others aren’t—concept of tuning in to your own radio station

Episode 11: VACATION

Episode 12: Know Thyself to Radiate Outward

Segment 1: The Concept of Radiating Outward and How Knowing Yourself is Never Over

  1. Radiating outward starts will filling your own circle.
  2. Never stop knowing—it’s dangerous to think you’ll ever truly know yourself.
  3. Mindset and knowing yourself.

Segment 2: Knowing Your Personality

  1. Introvert vs Extrovert
  2. Feminine vs Masculine
  3. Love Language
  4. Personality Type

Segment 3: How to Use Knowing Yourself to Radiate Outward

  1. Set up your environment for success.
  2. Help others get to know you: sharing.
  3. Know what you need and give it to yourself instead of seeking it from others.
  4. Use knowing yourself to know others.

Segment 4: Top Tips on Knowing Yourself to Radiate Outward

  1. Take time to be still.
  2. Know what calms you.
  3. Identify one or two good sounding boards.
  4. View everything as data.
  5. Journal.
  6. Don’t let knowing thyself lead to judging others.
  7. Know when it’s time for a break.
  8. Develop relationships with others who strive to know themselves.
  9. Understand the concept of present and future self.
