Show Objectives
If it's lonely at the top you're not doing something right. The common misconception is leadership is that we are supposed to be a little above and apart from the people we lead. The truth is, loneliness is not a leadership issue. Today’s show will show the difference between leadership and “liker-ship” in order to allow you the freedom to connect and lead more effectively.

Leaderships Myths Busted
Nobody ever got to the top alone. Think about it, if you are all alone, who are you leading?
  1. Myth: Only I can make success happen. Truth: The most success business owners take others with them
  2. Myth: I don't need to share what I learn about success. Truth: A leader’s credibility begins with personal success and ends with helping others achieve their success.
  3. Reality Check: Taking people to the top with you is always more fulfilling. Much of the time leaders are not at the top alone. The smart business owner knows this and allows others on the journey.

Leadership Best Practices
  1. Avoid positional thinking
  2. Acknowledge the downsides of success and failure
  3. Understand that you are in the people business
  4. Buy into the Law of Significance

Who do people quit?
Some sources estimate that as many as 65% of people leaving companies do so because of the owner (or manager).

Four Types of People Employees Quit
  1. People quit people who devalue them
  2. People quit people who are untrustworthy
  3. People quit people who are incompetent
  4. People quit people who are insecure

Leadership RetentionTalk
  1. Take responsibility for your relationships with others
  2. Conduct an exit interview when people leave
  3. Put high value on your employees
  4. Put credibility and authenticity high on our leadership list
  5. Be mindful of your positive emotional health as a way to create a secure environment for your employees
  6. Maintain a teachable spirit and invest in personal growth
