Introduction

To be effective, the employees recognition must be sincere and heartfelt . The most successful solution is not to implement one or the other but to implement both approaches to recognise employee achievements. 

You  need to remember employee recognition must be designed to conform to your workplace culture and to the needs and interests of your workforce .

  1. Why it matters most to improve because of  - Morale ,Loyalty , Productivity, Higher sales to higher profit , sense of ownership, Team work ,  motivation , improves Employee retention 
  2. Reward and recognition let’s people know that , their hard work is valued that’s why it should be a common practise rather . It will create a healthy Working culture with good team bonding .

Key Issues - Owner Perspective:
  1. Organizational Value Of Reciprocity - Helping Others . Reciprocity is so powerful , it can result in exchanges of completely unequal value
  2. Informal Recognition Programs To Reinforce Helping, - Feeling appreciated and recognised is a basic fundamental human need . The employees want to feel that , their work is valued .

Informal Recognition : 
  1. Saying Thank you in person 
  2. Handwritten letters of Appreciation 
  3. Use Newsletter as a way of acknowledging an employee 
  4. Give a day off 
  5. Give more autonomy 
  6. Offer flexible work schedules and work options 
  7. Give an upgradation to office computer or gadget 
  8. Offer to mentorship 
  9. Opportunities for advance training 
  10. Non cash bonus 
  11. Acknowledge work anniversaries 
  12. Take your team out for lunch or dinner ..etc


​What You Need to Do​​ - The How :

For Formal Recognition , the followings are the basic steps for developing a formal recognition program : 

  1. Be realistic - setting goals , measurable objectives in sales growth or revenue l improving customer service , better customer feedback etc 
  2. Think about the structure - What accomplishment will be recognised and how often rewards will be made 
  3. Tailor Your scheme - Provide right rewards to you employees , get them involved 
  4. Promote it 
  5. Manage the program continuously
  6. Share success stories to all the employees
