Introduction:

Last week, I encouraged business owners to position themselves to defeat disruption. This week, I want to dive into dealing with issues that prevent you from gaining traction. I will referencing an excellent business resource to help simplify the process of problem solving.

    • Traction Overview - The approach described in the book is called The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS): Strengthening the Six Key Components
    • The six components are 
      1. Vision 
      2. People 
      3. Data 
      4. Issues* (focus of the today’s show)
      5. Process 
      6. Traction
  2. Leadership Component: Successful companies solve issues rather than avoiding making decisions or procrastinating, which leads to failure. 
    • Most leadership teams spend their time talking in circles about problems and never really landing on a solution. They have meetings after meeting after meetings discussing everything but a solution
    • most people settle for accepting the problem as unresolved…”it has been that way for years’ not really connecting with how the problem limits growth and traction
    • Clear the path for open and honest communication. Without it people will not feel comfortable and safe to bring problems or solutions to the table. A high level of trust is critical. 
    • The leaders’ job is to eliminate fear.
