Introduction
Today’s show is dedicated to help the business owner prioritize.  Prioritization is the difference maker in every business. 

Show Objectives
You can’t manage time, you can’t control time it moves with or without you. However, you can manage and control your priorities. It’s not time that is the problem, it’s what you do with it.  You’re priorities.

The question is NOT: Will my calendar be full. 
The question is: Who and what will fill my calendar. 

Key Issues 
 
What You Need to Know
  1. Working smarter has a higher return than working harder. 
  2. You can not have it all. 
  3. Good is always the enemy of the best.  Best is the enemy of better.
  4. Proactive beats reactive.
  5. The important needs to takes precedence over the urgent. 

What You Need to Do
Every business leader needs to build margin in their life. But how do you do that? We believe you do it by focusing on the 3 R’s of priorities. 

There are 3 Rs in regards to priorities.   
1. What is Required of Me? (The expectations: Every role has expectations.  What must I do that only I can do because I can’t delegate or eliminate it from my agenda.  

2. What gives you the greatest return? (What are you good at?  I mean are you really good at? What gives you the greatest return of your investment in time and energy?) ( For me - communicating, personal growth and leading)  If you know what activities gives you the greatest return, it will amplify your success.  
Activity is not accomplishment, productivity is accomplishment. 
Your Greatest Return will be in: 
  • Giftedness, what are you good at. 
  • Experience, what have you done well or proven success at.
  • Growth, what are you learning and what are you learning. 

3. What is most rewarding?  What is fulfilling to you?  What will you gladly do for FREE.  (I love what I’m doing right now and would do it for nothing, as long as everybody else is willing to do it for nothing).  Find the thing that you would do for nothing, but learn how to do it so well that people will pay you a premium for it.    

Each business leader should ask: 
**What are the 3 Rs in your life?


Write down 10-15 things that you are responsible for, put in excel, then in next column list requirement, then return, then list reward. THEN rate each one.  3 = very required   2=pretty required  1 =not required.  You will develop a list of what is most required of you, once it is done your daily priorities list will be different. 


How to Create Margin:
  • Don’t wait to create margins in your life.  Meaning prioritize. 
  • You think you will do it when you have more time, then you will prioritize. 
  • You think well people need me, so I have to do this.  Well, let me tell you, people will always need you. 

Start by asking yourself:
  1. What are the 20% of my possessions I get the most value out of?
  2. What are the 20% of the clothes I wear 80% of the time?
  3. What do I spend 20% of my leisure time doing that gives me 80% of my happiness. 
  4. Who are the 20% of the people I’m close to who make me the happiest?
