Good morning, you are listening to IBGR.Network, the International Business Growth Radio Network, I am your host, Jan Robberts, Global Influencer, Co-Founder of Ki Leadership Institute and founder of JRs Speakers Club. Do you want to be successful? There are many different, important aspects of being a well-rounded, successful business owner. Today’s show will explore how you can positively influence the outcome of an important meeting by discussing the necessity of the meeting before the meeting. 

By the end of our time together today you will...
Hopefully have a better understanding of the need to have that ‘meeting before the meeting’ especially when the stakes are high.

The meeting before the meeting….as if there are not enough meetings to go around, to be dragged into, to spend countless hours of, what appears to be, utter time wasting, while often talking about the same things the very next day!!!!

Why then do we need even more meetings BEFORE we go into those bored room meetings???? 
Well, I hope to bring you some clarification on its importance and why you MUST have them….if you want to positively influence the outcome from those aforementioned big meetings….

I looked at the definition of a pre-meeting:
A gathering in the run up to an official meeting in which details of the official meeting are discussed.

Everyone hates long meetings that are unorganized. These days, people are busy enough with their regular work so when meetings are bad, they get mad.

Today I will talk into the following areas:
  • The importance of talking to the right people
  • Why you must really listen well
 
  • 5 important areas when it comes to the meeting before the meeting
  1. Goals
  2. Credibility
  3. Awareness
  4. Appreciation
  5. Application
 
  • 7 Critical Ways Productive People Prepare for Meetings
  1. Research the attendees.
  2. Determine clear objectives. 
  3. Plan a suggested agenda. 
  4. Consider any obstacles. 
  5. Remove any roadblocks.
  6. Decide on desirable outcomes.
  7. Think about follow-up activities.

I will also talk into 3 different examples of meetings before the meeting;
  • With key players who will be present in the meeting
  • With an individual in a one-on-one meeting and how to approach that meeting.
  • With your team where everyone understands fully what the vision is, what is required, and what each team member must do before the meeting

If you really want to positively influence the outcome I hope you now have a better idea of HOW important those really are?

Of course it very much depends on the kind of meeting you are going to have …whether it is with your bank manager for funding, an internal meeting in your department, or a meeting to pitch your idea, product, or service to a large organization.

Do not always overestimate your own capabilities and try to do it all single handed, or underestimate the power of that “meeting before the meeting”!

Final thought:
They still haven’t found what the human brain is capable off so why do most of us live with self limiting beliefs? Why do so many of us think we can’t do certain things? Why do so many of us already defeat ourselves before we even start something?
