Introduction

You can’t lead anything very long if you don’t lead from a place of internal integrity or authenticity.  If it’s not consistent with who you are, it will be a crash and burn existence.  I’m challenging you through this program, to get leadership internally where it needs to be so it can get you externally where you are going.  Becoming a better leader changes lives, it can bring you to a point of significance.  Millennials want and will demand it.  Authenticity has NO COMPETITORS.

Discuss this statement: The world becomes a better place when people become better leaders. 
Our goal today is to help each business owner, leader and supervisor understand that leadership is influence.  Your influence will determine whether your company culture is good or bad.  


Key Issues 
4 Lies About Leadership:
1. I’m Not a Born Leader, So I Can’t Lead. 
2. A Title and Seniority Will Automatically Make Me a Leader. 
3. Work Experience Will Automatically Make Me a Leader. 
4. I’m Waiting Until I Get a Position to Start Developing as a Leader. 
 
ASK: Which of the above reasons to not develop as a leaders has been your default? 
 
ASK: What must you do to change the way you think in any area you marked yes?
 
What You Need to Know
HOW WILL YOU DEVELOP THE LEADER WITHIN YOU? 
Influence is the beginning of true leadership.  
  1. Everyone Influences Someone. 
  2. We Don’t Always Know Who or How Much We Influence. 
  3. The Best Investment in Tomorrow is to Develop Your Influence Today. 

What You Need to Do
The 5 levels of leadership can be applied to every area of your life, both personal and professional.
1. Level 1: Position — Influence based on rights

People follow because they have to. 
Position is a good place to start in leadership, but it’s a terrible place to stay.


2. Level 2: Permission — Influence based on relationship
People follow because they want to. 

If you’ve been given a leadership position, then you’ve been given your boss’s permission to lead. 
If you’ve earned influence on Level 2, then you have acquired your people’s permission to lead. 

3. Level 3: Production — Influence based on results. (All about results)
People follow because of what you have done for the organization. 
  • This is where you become an authentic, credible leader. 
  • Law of Big Picture: People do what people see. 
  • All level 3, the question is what are they seeing?
    • They see you produce.
    • They see your success so they want to join your team. 
    • People want to be on a winning team. 

4. Level 4: (SWEET SPOT) People Development — Influence based on reproduction
People follow because of what you have done for them.
  • You’ve equipped them, developed them, trained them. 
  • This is where loyalty kicks in.
  • At level 3, you add
  • At level 4, you multiply
  • ASK: Do you want to add or multiply?

5. Level 5: Pinnacle — Influence based on Respect
People follow because of who you are and what you represent. (Reputation)

  • Level 1, the company gives it to you.
  • Level 2,3,4, you earn.
  • At level 5 the people in the organization gives it to you. Because of your results. 
  • You are the best.  It’s called the Pinnacle. 

People at the Pinnacle level are known not only outside of their own organization but outside of their fields, their countries, and even their lifetimes.
