Introduction

Hiring the right people for your business is by all means the first step and the beginning to a great start. To ensure you have the right fit of employees working as a high performing team, you need to ensure they work together, steadily improve performance, be motivated, stay with the company for long term and grow as leaders. What does all of this mean to you as a business owner, an entrepreneur or a leader in an organization? People and employees need to be managed. 

People management is key to the success of your business and your own success as a business owner. You may be involved in the production, marketing, design of products and strategy formation of the company which are all good, but being involved in managing people is one way to help your business grow the most. People management should not be relegated to only after every other thing is done and in place, it should be a priority for every business owner and company. It is not enough to say you have hired the best, highly-skilled professionals and right people for the job. How do you manage perceptions to ensure employee satisfaction and creativity abound? 

Show Objectives – The Why
The show focus is to address people management concerns and hep business owners, entrepreneurs and leaders in organizations understand that people management is a priority for organizational growth and success. It involves a number of practices that requires every person to be involved in the activities that promote fairness, creativity, innovation and a good reward system. 

​Key Issues - Owner Perspective:
  1. Business owners are task-fixated and not focused on people issues.
  2. Human resources do not have a seat at the decision-making table.
  3. Organizational structure and chart are too hierarchal.
  4. Managers and supervisors are under-empowered.
  5. Ineffective communication and conflict management between managers and teams. 

What You Need to Know – The What
  1. Human resources role is key to organizational success.
  2. Business owners should have good people skills.
  3. Make well-being a priority in your company.
  4. Delegate and supervise but don’t micro-manage people.
  5. Transparency can improve the communication culture.

What You Need to Do – The How
  1. Design Organizational chart to be as flat as possible.
  2. Make HR a strategic business partner.
  3. Build positive working relationships.
  4. Create effective training mechanism.
  5. Maintain good communication.
  6. Delegate work to the right people and as necessary.
