In the world of Business Podcasting, your listeners want to be transformed. They want some kind of change. The key to attracting these types of listeners is to get REALLY CLEAR on your promise. Not just what your promise is, but how it solves a pain or brings your Perfect Listener closer to a dream or goal.

E5 Turn Your Podcast Into A Hero’s Journey  |IBGR | Donna Kunde
  1. In episodes 1-3 of this series we explored How to Get Noticed in the World of Business Podcasting and in episode 4 we looked at How to Build a Podcast Season - And Why It’s So Important. 
  2. Once you know your season theme it is time to map out your listener journey. Start by brainstorming broad topics about your theme that your ideal listener might be searching the internet for answers. 
  3. After brainstorming broad topics, put them into a logical order and number them 1-13. If you have more than 13 topics see if any can be grouped together. If you have fewer than 13 topics, share your list with a trusted friend or sleep and see if there are any others to add. Still struggling? Perhaps add an interview or two!
  4. Now go back and add four talking points for each broad topic. There may be more you want to include but it is important to stick to four. You have now mapped your hero’s journey!

E6 PODCAST TITLES THAT CONVERT |IBGR | DONNA KUNDE 
  1. Most shows, due to no fault of the presenter, are not structured to convert. The show and episode names are vague and don't deliver a clear desired outcome or result. This makes it virtually impossible to cut through all the digital noise. 
  2. Your listeners are  PAYING YOU their most valuable resource, their TIME, to listen to your show. They will do this when they believe your promise will help them. 
  3. In the case of your podcast, that promise takes the form of your overarching season theme, or "Never-Changing Big SEASON PROMISE." and every episode name. 
  4. When structured right, your promise will attract your Perfect Listener and they will gladly pay you with their time. Does that make sense? I hope so! 
  5. Because what you name your Season Theme has to include a PROMISE that when your ideal client sees it they know how it will benefit them and they will pay in time to show up every week. 
  6. Choosing The Right Promise and getting it to convert can be as easy as 1, 2, 3. 
    1. Choose ONE SPECIFIC RESULT that the current market is already paying to solve, 
    2. Gain 100% confidence in YOUR offer before launching it. 
    3. Set the stage for an irresistible offer during your weekly episodes

E7 Preparing Your First Podcast |IBGR | Donna Kunde
  1. The average listening time of podcasts is 12-15 minutes. That means each of your segments needs to be self-contained within the overarching theme of the episode. Consider this segment structure…
    • Intro – 1 minute
    • Content – 7 ½ minutes
    • CTA – 2 ½ minutes
    • Outro – 1 minute 
  2. Create a compelling intro that will induce your audience to listen. Create a similar outro with a strong call to action. 
    • Station identification
    • Who are you? (Credentials, company)
    • How will they be better off if they invest 12 minutes listening to you?
  3. Now craft your content. Include at least one story per segment about a client you’ve helped in relation to one of the tips. If you have time, include a second story about the second tip. Either way, teach your audience how/why to improve their lives by taking your advice on both tips. Write Your Stories with YOU as the MENTOR
  4. Develop a Call-to-Action that motivates your audience. Mention the benefits of taking your advice and how their lives will be better for doing so.
  5. Here’s the thing – Don’t over-think it! You’re simply bringing the best version of you into a conversation with your target market on a topic you are completely across.

  1. Components of a Killer Podcast Episode include the following components: WHAT, WHY, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW.
  2. WHAT - Include the following
    1. Concept Title
    2. Topic:
    3. Title:
    4. Marketing Message:
  3. WHY - Transformation
    1. From (Current State)          
    2. To (Future State)
  4. WHEN - Include a Decision + Implementation
    1. Tell a story of “the hard way”
    2. Then position your solution as “The EASY Way”
    3. Invite the listener to choose which way they want their transformation - easy or hard?
  5. WHERE -  Imagine If + Visual Model
    1. Use metaphors to describe the transformation - "Imagine having an army of robots selling for you on autopilot around the clock"
    2. Visual Model - use a chart, checklist, screenshot or infographic in your show notes. Record your show on Zoom or do a livestream with graphics
  6. HOW - Actions + Examples
    1. Actions  are Left Brain (Process, steps)
    2. Examples are Right Brain (case study, examples)
    3. Include both if possible!
