  1. “When your brand first makes its online debut, it will be relatively unknown. Audience members may begin to trickle in one by one, but you’ll want to find a way to turn that trickle into a downpour.” — Eric Enge
  2. Become a person worth listening to by giving the right influencers a reason to be on your show. There’s so much power in borrowing other people’s audiences.
  3. Make life easier for yourself by putting yourself in front of other’s audiences, in a way that’s good for you, good for them, and good for your listeners.
  4. There are many ways to find influencers for your show including: 1) a former or current client; 2) a potential client; aligned people in your market, field, or industry, and/or 5) a podcast community or podcast matching platform like matchmaker.fm/.
  5. [TAKE ACTION] Brainstorm a list of influencers that you know. And a wishlist of those you want to know. Who in your network can connect you to those people? How will you position yourself so they say YES(!)?

  2. Become someone worth listening to by NOT giving it all away.
  3. When everything you offer is free, it loses value fast. So make sure to find a balance of free + paid content so you can serve (and trigger transformation for) your listeners and partners in the best possible ways.
  4. Your podcast should be the beginning of your funnel (at least one of them). For example: create a video, make use of the audio, create the show notes… then turn all of it into something salable (concept) and sellable (content).
  5. [TAKE ACTION] Consider the easiest way to sell something related to your podcast. Is it the recordings? Is it a course? Access to a membership site with bonuses?

  4. Research, develop, and choose the right content for your audience.

  2. Become someone worth listening to by choosing what kind of partnership works best for your podcast, season by season (i.e. ads, affiliates, sponsorship).
  3. The strategy you use largely depends on the size of your audience. Just starting out? Think affiliates.
  4. Ask yourself these two questions before seeking out partners: 1) Do I consistently get at least 200 downloads per episode? 2) What products or services would add value to my listeners?
  5. [TAKE ACTION] Choose a monetizing strategy and then decide which partners you want to reach (and how you’ll connect with them).
