1. “Someone ought to publish a book about the doomsayers who keep publishing books about the end of publishing.” — Evgeny Morozov 
2. 99% of the time, traditional publishing is NOT the way to go.
3. “Self”-publishing is a loaded term with lots of baggage. A better descriptor is “nontraditional publishing”.
4. Understand the benefits of nontraditional publishing for your business: you own your intellectual property, you don’t need a book proposal, and you don’t need to buy 1,000 books (that may end up sitting in your garage).
5. [TAKE ACTION] Find the right publisher for you, not only someone who will publish your book, but will guide you in launching your book the right way.

1. “Because most writers have totally unrealistic concepts of how publishing works.” — Jim Harrison 
2. Similar to trying to fix your own electric (or your own plumbing), you’re MUCH better off getting professional help.
3. There are more than 400 steps to publishing a book. (Why would you spend the time, when instead you can be out speaking and connecting with potential clients?)
4. Remember that most publishers only offer “one slice of pizza”. So make sure you get the whole pizza pie instead. Yummy!

2. There’s a good chance that book sales will get you nowhere. So focus on leveraging your book instead.
3. Two launches are 500% better than one: your soft launch and then your bestseller launch (2-9 months later).
4. Look at your calendar and decide: 1) when you want to publish (i.e. have your book up for sale); and 2) when it’s strategic to do your bestseller launch.
