Show  – WRAPPING UP SEASON!
Theme – DEFEATING NEGATIVE
Talking Points – SPOUSING THE POSITIVITY…!

Welcome to the THIRTEENTH show of Season 6 ‘Building YOU to BUILD your BUSINESS’ with Ravin Papiah!

Introduction
WELCOME to the THIRTEENTH Show of Season 6!

If you are not Aware, You Are Nowhere! Ravin S. Papiah

AS USUAL, I am really excited for today’s show – Why? Because today I will AGAIN be talking about YOU! Yes, YOU! The Good YOU, The Amazing YOU, the Incredible YOU!

In today’s world, more than ever, we need to be more aware of what’s happening around us. The Pandemic has ‘forced’ us to live differently, to think differently, to act differently, all within remaining AWARE! Aware of the world we are living, aware of the dangers…but aware also about the opportunities and possibilities.

IN TODAY’S SHOW, We are going to talk about defeating Negativity and Spousing Positivity.

It is not easy to be positive ALL the time, but it is possible to have a positive mindset – what is the difference? In today’s wrapping session we are going to share with you how we can build our mindset in a such a way that even in the darkest of moments, we can still see the possibilities.

Mindset is MORE important as it shapes our thoughts, thence our actions, and therefore our behaviours and results.

SEGMENT ONE – The Right Mindset!

You can make a difference in your life and in the life of others. Often it’s all about mindset. Here are 10 quick tips to develop your own positive mindset. You’ll be amazed at how a positive mindset spills over into your life.
  1. Only use positive words when talking. If you’re constantly telling yourself “I can’t” you may convince yourself that’s the truth. Replace these negative words with positive ones instead. Tell yourself you will do your best or that you will try your hardest instead.
  2. Push out all feelings that aren’t positive. Don’t let negative thoughts and feelings overwhelm you when you’re feeling down. Even if it’s only for a few hours a day, push your negativity aside and only focus on the good things in your life.
  3. Use words that evoke strength and success. Try filling your thoughts with words that make you feel strong, happy and in control of your life. Make a concentrated effort to focus on these words rather than those that make you feel like you are failing or incompetent.
  4. Practice positive affirmation. One of the most popular positive thinking exercises is positive affirmation. This means you repeat a positive phrase to yourself on a regular basis like “I deserve to be happy” or “I am worthy of love”. Believing that these things are true, and reminding yourself of it can help give you a more positive outlook on life.
  5. Direct your thoughts. This technique can help you to control your thoughts when you start to feel down or anxious. Create a happy thought, a positive image, or give yourself positive feedback to keep bad feelings in check.
  6. Believe you will succeed. There is nothing like believing in yourself to create a successful reality. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt and believe that you will succeed in fulfilling your goals.
  7. Analyse what went wrong. Thinking positively doesn’t mean denying that there is anything wrong. Instead, give yourself some time to think about the things that led up to your current situation so you can avoid future mistakes and look toward a more positive tomorrow.
  8. Give yourself credit. Often when we feel frustrated or upset we only concentrate on the bad things or the mistakes we’ve made instead of giving ourselves credit for what we do right. Allow yourself to feel confident about the things you have accomplished, even if you’ve messed up in other areas.
  9. Forgive yourself. Constantly beating yourself up about things that have gone wrong won’t change them. Tell yourself that you’re forgiven for your mistakes and allow yourself to move on.
  10. Learn from the past. The past is behind you and no matter how badly things went there is nothing you can do to change them. Whenever you feel negative thoughts about the past come up, replace them with positive thoughts about the future.

SEGMENT TWO – Have a Vision!

I love this quote, a Hebrew wisdom,  “Without a vision, the people perish.” It’s the same concept that is sometimes parsed, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll likely end up somewhere else.” Just like what Ravin Papiah says – If you are not Aware, you are Nowhere!
Do you feel like you are walking through your life in the dark? That you have no clear vision or direction and that you are just going around in circles? Do you feel lost? If so, you are not alone. Most men feel like that at some point in their lives. Creating a vision statement can help. If you need direction, here are some ways to help set a vision for your life.
1. Work to resolve old wounds. It’s difficult to embrace a new vision for your life while being hampered by old wounds that haven’t been tended to. Spend some time in introspection. Are you harboring resentment? Do you need to forgive someone? Are you hanging on to hurt that needs healing? Be honest about those feelings, seek out wise counsel, and start the restoration process so you can move on.
“Seek out a vision for your life that makes the world better for others.”
2. Understand it’s not about you. Many peoplethink highly of themselves and their importance, nothing wrong about that. However, we are not the centre of the Universe. Seek out a vision for your life that makes the world better for others.
3. Explore your passion and talents.Scottish Olympic runner Eric Liddell famously said, “God made me fast and when I run I feel His pleasure.” We were all made with God-given talents. What passions and talent do you have that will make you feel like Liddell when you use it? The time has come for you to give that gift to the world.
4. Spend time with people you admire.Seek out people whose lives you admire. Ask them how they got where they are and why they do what they do. Perhaps even see if they would be willing to meet regularly.
5. Envision what you want your life to look like.Think about an END goal. What do you want your life to look like? What type of man/woman do you want to be? What do you want your family to look like? What would you like your career to be? Picture it and see it in vivid detail.
6. Don’t limit yourself.Dream big. Don’t allow fear or a lack of confidence to shortchange your vision. If your vision doesn’t make you at least a little uncomfortable, then you probably aren’t dreaming big enough. It should be scary but also exciting.
7. Get feedback and buy-in from trusted sources.Ask the people closest to you if your vision is on point, particularly your family. Make changes based on their feedback and make sure you get buy-in.
8. Write mission statement and list action steps.Think of a one sentence statement that encapsulates your vision. Write it down and put it somewhere you can see it. Then write down three-to-five action steps that you will focus on the next couple of months that will bring you closer to reaching your vision. When you have accomplished those action steps, come up with new ones.
9. Find accountability.Seek out people that will encourage you and hold you accountable to stay on course. Ask them to press you on it.
10. Be flexible.Be open to the fact that your vision may need to be changed or tweaked as time goes on and circumstances become different. Think of your vision as a living thing

SEGMENT THREE – Be Your Best Version!
Once you’ve identified the person you want to be, you can plan how to become the best version of yourself. Start with the end in mind – your ideal self – and take concrete steps to get there.
1. Let go of limiting beliefs
You know who you are – but do you know who you could be? Most of us are held back by limiting beliefs: untrue thoughts we have about our intrinsic nature. By learning to recognize and let go of whatever limiting beliefs are keeping you from becoming the best version of yourself, you’re able to push forward and find the person you really are.
2. Amplify your strengths
Focus on your strengths and you’ll get even stronger in those areas, becoming more fully yourself along the way. Focusing on your strengths is also essential when you hit roadblocks – which you inevitably will. When you amplify your strength, you remember what you’re bringing to the table, and you’ll crush the obstacles in your path.
3. Develop a growth mindset
No one is made up of only strengths. We all have pain points that require attention if you want to be the best version of yourself. Successful people tackle this by having a growth mindset They believe that there are no weaknesses. There are only opportunities for improvement. Rather than focusing on what they do badly, they focus on how they can improve – and take action to get there.
 4. Throw out expectations
Our beliefs create our world – but unfortunately, sometimes our beliefs are not our own. Like most of us, you’ve built at least part of your identity on others’ expectations. The process of internalizing others’ values was unconscious, and bringing it to consciousness is the essence of learning how to be the best version of yourself. Your vision for who you want to be must be yours – no one else’s.
5. Be willing to shed your old identity
When you determine to find your ideal self, you’re essentially raising the bar – for yourself and the people you know. Your “old self” will resist this due to feelings of insecurity and fear of the unknown. Resist the urge to cling to the familiar – the identity that’s been holding you back – and embrace a can-do attitude
6. Tame your fears
Fear is an insidious adversary that robs us of our courage and distracts us from the present moment. Taming your fears is possible, and is necessary to better yourself. When you feel anxious, identify what you’re afraid of and write it down. Then, write down an alternative explanation that’s less scary while still being realistic. Even if your feelings don’t change right away, your mind will register the rationale. In time, the process of fact-checking your fears becomes habitual, and you become less swayed by anxiety.
7. Prioritize outcomes
Since understanding how to be the best version of yourself requires looking inward for wisdom, you won’t find yourself by gathering tons of information. Let your ideal self set a goal. Pick something plain and achievable, like getting organized or reading more fiction. Making a measurable goal is one of the most effective ways to get out of your head and build confidence.
8. Set reasonable goals
Prevent overwhelming yourself by setting small, measurable. If you’d like to lose 10 pounds and increase your income by 30%, break those down into smaller steps, like exercising for 20 minutes a day and enrolling in a business class. Each time you take a step toward your goal, you build self-confidence to become the best version of yourself.
9. Create empowering rituals
No one would argue that the world’s most successful athletes, entrepreneurs and leaders have become the best versions of themselves. There’s one thing they all have in common: they’ve developed habits that make them great. This could mean meditation, priming or goal visualization to put them in an empowered state of being. It always includes eating healthy and exercising. And more often than not, it includes practicing gratitude every day.
 10. Have compassion for yourself
Being the best version of yourself is about you – not other people. Stop comparing yourself to others and recognize that everyone is on a different path. If you’re not where you’d like to be, have compassion for yourself. You’re at a crossroads, and that’s fine. Instead of scrolling through social media or getting down about a recent setback, practice self-love. Get outside and go for a walk. Do something you enjoy. Always remember to check negative self-talk and replace it with empowering words.

 11. Manage yourself effectively
Part of understanding how to be the best version of yourself is learning to be your own boss through effective self-management. Effective time management sets you free from stress, steers you toward your ideal self and relieves you of others’ expectations. To stay accountable and in control of your resources, check in on your progress monthly, quarterly and yearly. Becoming your own best boss makes you a better resource for your team.
 12. Stay positive
As you learn how to be the best version of yourself, you’re sure to hit roadblocks and obstacles. Instead of getting discouraged, cultivate positive emotions like passion, curiosity and flexibility. Look at obstacles as opportunities instead of defeats. By staying positive, you’ll find creative solutions you’d miss if you had remained bogged down in self-defeating thoughts.

SEGMENT FOUR – ENJOY YOUR LIFE!
Everyone in life wants to be happy, but it’s often easier said than done, especially when we are at a place that challenges our mental strength and emotional stability. Fortunately, there are several things we can do relatively effortlessly to combat the urge to go down the road of negativity. Albeit there are several, here are some to begin today:
Wake Up With GratitudeIt shouldn’t be difficult to express gratitude for the things we have in our lives, yet rarely do we take the time to acknowledge our own thankfulness. By beginning each day with a conscious reminder of the things that are good in your life and all that you are thankful for, you are feeding the parts of your soul that will release positivity into the remainder of your day.
Start with the little things — the roof over your head, the food in your fridge, an able body that continues to wake up each and every day. It doesn’t have to be a long list, but you will find as you begin, there is a lot to be grateful for.
Laugh Every Day (after all, it’s free)Whoever said laughter is the best medicine wasn’t speaking without experience. If you have ever been in an upset mood and someone said something that made you crack a smile behind sad eyes, then you know the feeling it can give you almost instantaneously.
When we laugh, our bodies release a ‘happy hormone’ called oxytocin and this perpetuates a feeling of happiness throughout our body. So the next time you find yourself without a reason to smile, revisit gratitude and then make the effort to do smile anyway.
Give BackOne of my favorite things to do is volunteer in my community and believe it or not, the reasoning for it can be seen as mildly selfish although the act itself is fairly selfless. When I give back, I feel good about myself and the work that I am doing to try to make another person’s life a bit better. This is the same way any other person would feel knowing they are an integral part of making someone else’s day, situation, life, etc. a more enjoyable place to be.The universe loves those of us who make the effort to give back and in doing so, tends to reward us ten-fold in return. The universe will compensate you for your graciousness towards others in its own unique way.
Get Enough Rest and ExerciseIt seems these two go hand in hand often and as they should. When we get enough rest, we inevitably have a greater chance of finding the energy to exercise at some point throughout the day. Physical exhaustion leads to mental turmoil. Even if you are not a person who craves physical exercise on a daily basis, the involuntary improvement that can occur from a mental and emotional state might be reason enough to start.
The same ‘happy hormone’ (oxytocin) that is released during moments of smiling and laughter, is the same that is released when a person exercises. Look at it this way, when our bodies are active, they reward us with these kinds of ‘good feelings’ because we are doing exactly what our bodies are intended to do — physical exertion.
Spend Time AloneI have written before about how vital ‘alone time’ can be to one’s personal development. In fact, many of the most successful people will share with you their regimen for working alone time into their regular schedules. Alone time should be non-negotiable because it allows you a moment of peace and an opportunity to ‘recharge your spirit.’
Foster Good RelationshipsOnce you have established a network of individuals who are in your corner, with your best interest at heart, nurture those relationships. It is important to be alone (as the previous point made) for the purpose of self-awareness and growth, but it is equally as important that you have some support system established.
Expecting to never make a mistake or to avoid regret-provoking decisions seems a bit infeasible for me in my unapologetically human state. I would encourage you to accept your mistakes, learn from each, and accept yourself for who you were in that moment so you can move forward in the direction of who you’d like to be going forward.
Remove Others From The EquationThough this may seem to argue the previous point about fostering and nurturing relationships in your life, it is important we choose wisely the parts of others we allow into the closeness of our existence. Do not compare others if you wish to move forward in your life as the opinions of others will hold you back more often than not.

Write It DownI have said it before and I will say it again — journaling could become perhaps one of the most life-changing habits you adopt this new year. There is something about putting to paper the events of the day, the impact each had on your emotional state, and how you plan to move forward that is truly healing for the soul. Even writing down three positive things a day has been said to shift a person’s conscious state to one more positive. Don’t believe me? Try it.
Remember, you are beautifully flawed, far from fragile, and capable of joy even in the darkest of moments. You deserve to be the happiest you have ever been in this coming new year and I hope these tips support that mission.
