The 5 pillar framework explores the ways you and your partner can achieve the biggest net value for your partnership, your people and your clients in both business and life. Move away from guessing and start knowing the Dynamics in your partnership.
Continuing from last week’s episode where we explored Pillar no 2 which was all centred around communication. In today’s 4-part series we move to pillar #3 collaboration. We will firstly look at what is collaboration? How to use this as one of your superpowers in your partnership and how you built your internal and external team, finishing off with 5 steps to achieve collaboration successfully.

Collaboration what is it and why is it a good idea to master this important skill?
Over the next 4 episodes we shed the light on collaboration, why it is an important skill, the common pitfalls in business collaborations and what kinds of collaborations are possible, just to get you thinking and explore what might be a good fit for you and your partners business.
Collaboration means working together to achieve a shared intention. It is important to not confuse this with teamwork, although it has similar traits the main difference is that in a collaboration model different people are involved and each bring something different to the party, there is no hierarchy as such, although I would recommend you decide who will lead the collaboration.
When we put different minds in a room it evokes a way of sharing knowledge, ideas, and resources. In this case in a partnership, we have all heard the saying 2 minds are better than 1.

If you master the power of collaboration in your partnership it sets a good precedent for the future when building or expanding your team, remember the idea is to be doing less of the push ups and have a team to support you with this, you have guessed it, it all starts with you and your partner though. Other findings have been that collaboration can be used as a vehicle to evoke new ideas and keep your partnership ignited.
Now that the scene is set let’s break down the types of collaboration, this will all depend on what outcomes you are looking to achieve. I have chosen two different models of collaboration

Episode 36 The 5 must haves to achieve successful collaboration for your Business and Life Partnership
Summarizing the last 3 episodes and next steps for you and your partner
By now we have established the benefits for you and your partner and your team.
Collaboration is a great way to improve communication and morale.
You can extend this further to retaining your talent (people like to be part of something), creating new ideas or simply making things better in your business.
By defining what type of collaboration fits your business, it avoids confusing within the team and allow you and your people to shine and thrive. Not every idea is a good idea, and that is a great outcome.
#6 Steps for Successful Collaboration
#1Identify the reason for collaboration, is it to solve a problem, bring new ideas, work on a project to fast track outcomes
#2Identify the type of collaboration, set the parameters from the start
#3 Who will be involved and why? Appoint someone who is responsible for keeping things on track, all are equal in a collaboration however keeping things on track is important
#4 Make sure you and your partner are on board and aligned as this will show confidence and trust for others who are part of the collaboration
#5 Call out poor collaboration and reward good collaboration
