The Power of Writing to Clarify Your Next Big Business Idea

1. “Learning to write is learning to think. You don’t know anything clearly unless you can state it in writing.” -- U.S. Senator S. I. Haykawa 
2. Writing makes you think things through and forces you to articulate your thoughts. Being able to see our thoughts visually also brings more clarity to our thinking. 
3. Most business owners have a natural bias for action. They undervalue the importance of setting aside time for thinking. But without thinking time, business owners just end up becoming glorified technicians. It was a great idea that launched your business in the first place. It needs a continuous stream of new ideas to continue growing.  
4. Allow yourself time to think. Write what comes to mind without analyzing it. Just capture your thoughts on paper. Keep your thoughts in a safe place. Use a special file or notebook that is easy to find whenever you need it. 

Episode 10
The Importance of Evaluating Your Next Big Business Idea

1. ‘Whatever things are true ...noble...just...pure...lovely...are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; think on these things.” -- Paul the Apostle
2. All ideas are not good ideas! A critical step to business success is evaluated thinking. It is not enough just to think the thought and write it down. We also have to evaluate the ideas and sort them into three idea buckets: Great, Mediocre, and Bad. Then you will know where to focus your energy next. 
3. Let the bad ideas go. They are not yours to act on. Set the mediocre ideas aside. They are not ready to grow. Evaluate the great ideas and think of ways to make them better. 
4. Sleep on it! Then reread your ideas and ask yourself the following questions: Does the thought still speak to me? Will this thought speak to others? How, where and when can I use this thought? Who can I help by delivering or implementing the thought? 

Episode 11 
When and How to Share Your Next Big Business Idea

2. It is important to clarify and evaluate your thoughts before sharing them with others. Once you have gone through the process of early stage creative thinking you can now share your ideas in order to take them to the next level. 
3. Even though you want to clarify and evaluate your ideas before sharing, they do not need to be perfect or complete. There is a lot of power in bringing several minds together. When they all enter into the thinking process together it creates a Mastermind.
4. There are five steps to take to share your thinking with others: 
   • Bring your idea to the table - it doesn’t have to be a great thought, just a good one.
   • Share your desire for others to improve your idea - you need to want better ideas more than you want credit.
   • Ask everyone to participate - people should know their input matters
   • Ask questions - nothing stimulates improved thinking more than questions
   • Let the best idea win - when the best idea wins… you win!

Launch Your Next Big Business Idea To See Its Value

1. “You are today where your thoughts have brought you. You will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.” -- James Allen 
2. The launch is the greatest test of any idea. The implementation shows an idea’s real value - or lack of value. You can minimize your risk of complete failure by launching your idea to a smaller test market. Beta test your idea. Before any big launch, you want to test your idea with a small audience before launching it into the world. This allows you to get feedback and make adjustments before spending a lot of time and money on advertising. 
3. Gather feedback and data from your beta launch of your new idea. Then upgrade, expand or adjust where necessary. 
4. This is where you go from thinking to action. It is time to bring your idea into the world as a product or service. It can be a scary step and requires growth but if you want to be successful you need to take your developed idea and launch.
