Today we are exploring the power of your voice and why it is the most underestimated tool in your entrepreneurial toolbox.  Do you truly understand how to leverage your voice in your business?  Most entrepreneurs underestimate the importance of sounding like the the expert they are in order to attract the right clients and partners.

​E45 What would life be like if you couldn’t speak?

  1. “The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.”     ~ Neil Gaiman
  1. Have you ever imagined what life would be like if you didn’t have a voice?  What would happen to your business?  Who would you be?   I asked this question to a business owner and he said, “That is my biggest nightmare.  I don’t even want to think about it.”  And yet it is something that I ask in all of my key notes and classes.  It is something that must be explored in order to truly understand the importance of our voice.  It is the beginning of everything that we create in our lives.
  2. Our voice is the expression of who we are.  It is the one of the first things that we do to understand we have been born.  We breathe and then cry.  It is how we know ourselves and how we make ourselves known to others.  It was the way we asked for what we wanted before we learned words.  Our voice is what carries our desires, emotions and personalities into the world.  You could have the most amazing ideas, stories and visions in the world but imagine not having a voice to carry them into the world.  
  3. Today I invite you to celebrate your voice as you never have before.  You are your voice and that voice deserves special recognition and acknowledgement.  Sing, even if you think you can’t sing.  Laugh out loud and listen to the beauty of joy in your voice.  Give a big “Woot!” because you can.  Thank you voice for all the support it has given you all these years.  Remember to always love and value it.  It is the most beautiful reflection of you.

1. The way we express that constant, inevitable will to create is through our voice.  Whether we are aware of it or not, we are constantly creating and the way our creations manifest in the world is through our voice.  Our voice is the expression of the culture and atmosphere of our business.  Understanding the value of this brings new awareness to every relationship in your business.  It gives you a cutting edge in your ability to express your unique talents and creativity into all the actions and decisions in your business.
2.  More and more research is coming to light showing the remarkable untapped potential of the human voice.  Each voice is unique and can reveal the owner's emotions that causes the listener to make assumptions about the speaker's ability to influence, move and ultimately lead another.  In other words, our voice is constantly and inevitably creating the culture and atmosphere of our business.  Whether we are aware of it or not.  Can you see why it is important to understand and harness this powerful resource that we all have and rarely use to our advantage?

4.  When you understand that your voice is the DNA of your business you will start using it more effectively and focus on the 2 most important elements of your Business DNA.  How you express the internal culture of your business and how your customers perceive you and your business.  And don’t forget this works both ways.  Once you start developing this new way of thinking, you will start listening to your clients and team members in a more discerning way.  Thus creating and atmosphere that encourages loyalty and productivity and reinforcing your natural ability to lead.

​E47  Being seen is only half of the equation

  2. What I love about this quote is that it reminds us that our voice is an instrument that can be played.  We have the ability to use this instrument in so many different ways.  That is why it can be the greatest asset in your entrepreneurial toolbox.  Yet most of us are so concerned with how things look in our business, we rarely take into consideration how they sound.  We spend most of our energy on the visual and forget the 2nd half of the equation
  3. One of the most powerful human needs is to feel seen and heard.  We all want to feel valued and appreciated, that we are important and that we matter.  This is one of the fundamental precepts for being a great leader and getting 5 star reviews for customer service.  However, our world has become a visual one and the ability to listen is a dying skill.  I notice that the ability to express oneself vocally when we are being seen has become more and more challenging. We are used to being able to edit ourselves on video or create another take to correct what we don’t like. The ability to stand and deliver live in presentations and conversations seems to be a dying art.  
  4. It is time to reclaim our voices.  A recent survey cited in Forbes Magazine claims that 88% of employees whose companies financially outperform others in their industry feel heard compared to 62% of employees at underperforming companies.  As business owners, it is essential to learn how to express or “play” our voice in order to convey leadership that is inclusive and inspiring.  This combined with increasing our listening skills will create an atmosphere for clients and employees that will skyrocket your business.

The power of the human voice is constantly surprising and amazing me.  As a singer, I understood how my voice could change someone's state and bring them joy or release pent up emotion through tears.   As a little girl, I realized early on that I could make people feel good by saying kind words from the heart.  It has become my mission in life to use my own voice as God’s instrument of healing and to bring others back to their magnificence through the power of the human voice.
  3. The throat chakra is the seat of power in the chakra system.  The words we speak have power but that power is increased 10 fold when we put the power of emotion behind it.  If we think about words that people said to us in the past that were the most life changing, we will discover that what really affected us was the feeling behind the words.  Negative or positive, the feeling behind the words is what influences the voice to make the lasting impression.  This concept is one of the most important to understand and put into practice as leaders.  The true power of impact and influence lies in the ability to be congruent within in order to express your mission and vision.
  4. As you discover your voice of power and how to express yourself with it, you will activate the natural magnetism that is uniquely you.  It will attract ideal clients, partners and employees.  You will understand that power doesn’t mean convincing or controlling.  It is the natural personal power that belongs to each of us when we align ourselves that which cannot be seen within and express our expertise from there
