Introduction

Self-awareness is the new smart. As business owners, managers and leaders your focus is now on accelerating your business with and through your people whilst delivering the best experience for your clients. Why are you in Business? To create and retain clients that want to buy your product or service. Your and you're people's attitude and behavior has a ripple effect throughout everything you do. In the competitive landscape of business your customers are looking for more than a service or product, they want to feel understood and cared for.

You as the business owner help identify and satisfy your clients needs, solve their problems and for this you and your team need to understand the impact of energy and attitude. How do your internal and external clients feel about dealing with your business, how do you make them feel?  I love this saying by Maya Angelou “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”


Show Objectives - The Why

The objective for this week's show is to discuss the importance of your people understanding the client journey and the impact they have. Your team’s understanding of how their roles impact the client journey is critical.

It is interesting how people in many organisations do not fully understand the impact they have. It comes back to what, when and how we share feedback and results throughout the organisation from the top down. What people don’t know they don’t know. It is your job to ensure you set the baseline of expectation.

In the last 8 shows we have focussed on the building blocks from values, to clear expectations, to measuring your peoples performance.

  1. Lack of understanding around the impact of people’s individual roles 
  2. How people feel in your business impacts how they will influence your clients
  3. Customer journey is not being shared across the entire organisation

What You Need to Know - The What
  1. Communicating the client roadmap and the impact of their roles
  2. What insights are required to have your people engaged 
  3. Every individual has unique attributes 
    1. Behavioral and adaptive preferences DISC
    2. Values, different people are inspired and motivated to take action differently
    3. Attention, Balance and Clarity in the internal and external world drives decision making Energy flows where attention goes, what is the focus
    4. Understanding of the natural talents and skills 
  4. Does your team feel valued?   
  5. Self-awareness existence in your organisation

What You Need to Do
  1. Develop and communicate the client journey clearly and which areas of the business impacts what 
  2. Invest in your people early on 
    1. Train your people on self-awareness and emotional intelligence First be clear on what you want to measure before getting a software solution
    2. Teach them how to look after themselves
  3. Have data systems in place that can tell the story and provide useful insights for improvement
  4. Active listening as your no 1 communication superpower (willowtree)
  5. Understanding clarity, confidence and commitment path 
  6. Knowing what training is required to have your team fire on all cylinders to provide the desired outcomes 
  7. What questions to ask and when
  8. Regular feedback meetings, ensuring alignment, calibration and discuss results 
  9. Celebrate the impact you and your people make
