Introduction
There are many structures available in the business landscape and each of them have a separate set of rules. In Build your Core this season we explore different structures of Dynamic partnerships, from romantic relationships to blood related as well as business partnerships that don't fit the above. The dynamics do vary for each structure and an additional layer of complexity can be found in terms of the various emotional states of each of the partners.

What do you need to consider when working in this partnership setup?

Are there secret ingredients to this exquisite sauce?

The answer is no, however there are things that you can do to avoid finding yourself left behind with a sour taste in your mouth.

​Dynamic partnership can set you ahead of the game and create massive gains if set up well. The stakes are often higher as individual relationships can get impacted, so
setting your baseline is imperative when building and strengthening this partnership. So is it genius or a recipe for disaster? Let’s work on it  being genius!

In today's show we kick off with the first of 5 pillars, clarity. Having clarity and alignment between these partnerships is a must. Setting your baseline and creating a playbook is part of ensuring you create and maintain a thriving partnership. We start the conversation of why you went into business together in the first place as well as having alignment through understanding and setting clearly defined mission, vision and core values. The Core values do not only represent what you stand for as an organisation, it is also part of your culture and your external brand type.  They function as a guide and provide you and your people with an understanding of what is acceptable and what not.

Key issues from a dynamic partnership perspective

  2. Set and forget on vision, mission and core values
  3. Non-alignment in communication of messages internally/externally


What you need to know
  1. Understanding the why you are in business together 
  2. Agreement on what value you provide to whom (mission statement) and how your performance is part of it
  3. Alignment on the core values what is acceptable and unacceptable (values or operating principles) behavior in the treatment of customers and other employees
  4. Lack of communicating it across the board (caused mainly by not being clear on who does what - everybody needs to understand your why and have this communicated)
  5. Unclear about what we are here to do 


What You Need to Do
  1. Agreed alignment and regularly review your why regularly 
  2. Communicate clearly on a regular basis 
  3. Set time aside for you and your partner(s) to review
  4. Be consistent in your messaging 
  5. Get your team involved and teach company values through orientation/training
  6. Reinforce company values in all communication (what forms of communication do we use)
  7. Recognize and reward values-centric behaviors
  8. Incorporate company values into your sales process, your hiring process and  your performance review process (create a review process between the partners too)
  9. Have a structure in place to address non-compliance
