INTRODUCTION - How do we embrace African Principals of Leadership to become more inclusive in our daily interactions. The Inclusive Entrepreneurial Mindset is not Exclusive”

Show Objectives - The Why

Loyalty builds relationships, relationships builds consistency and eventually, the success of a business. So it makes sense that loyalty is one of the key ingredients needed to sustain ongoing, continuous support and income generating clientele, for any business to succeed where others fail dismally.
Though there are seemingly innumerable ways to boost customer engagement, some tried-and-true methods include:
  • Building a customer community where your customers can connect, share their opinions, discuss the latest trends, and more
  • Creating marketing content that is as exciting, entertaining, and informative as it is promotional
  • Experimenting with different mediums — videos, infographics, social media content, and so on — and seeing what your customers respond to
  • Developing a brand voice that feels authentic and approachable
  • Hosting events, such as webinars, customer engagement summits, and local meetups, where customers can engage with your employees — and with each other — face-to-face

Key Issues - Owner Perspective:
  • What are the tools available to build loyalty?
  • Why is it important and how do I guide the dialogue within my teams?
  • How do we build brand loyalty as well as product loyalty?
  • How do I align emotionally with my customers and clients?
Why is Customer Loyalty Important?
Loyal customers are the most valuable asset for any brand to hold onto. Repeat customers typically spend more and generate larger transactions: According to a study from Bain & Company, the average repeat customer spent 67% more in months 31–36 of their shopping relationship than months zero-to-six.

How to Build Customer loyalty

  • Offer Discounts. ...
  • Reward Customers. ...
  • Promote Your Rewards Program. ...
  • Encourage Referrals. ...
  • Create a Point System. ...
  • Partner with Another Company. ...
  • Set Up a Subscription Service. ...
  • Ask for Feedback.

Loyalty is not built on features and benefits. Features and benefits do not inspire. Loyalty and long-lasting relationships are based on something deeper.

Human decision making is based on emotional connection ….and WHY they would choose you and your brand over others regardless of better offerings from your competitors.

Find your Why Program – run by Jan Robberts -  he talks about Loyalty being based on how we feel about something or someone is more powerful than what we think about it or them.
What is Customer Loyalty?
Customer loyalty is a customer’s commitment to your brand. A loyal customer will always choose you over the competition, maybe because of your excellent customer service, unbeatable product selection, or another way you differentiate yourself.

What You Need to Know - The What

The story of how Apple relates to the market, feels most relevant in this scenario as a brand that stands out easily as an example of Brand loyalty, regardless of price.

What they have created, is vision. Aligned it with what most Business people seek in terms of consistency in quality, innovation, state of the art design, reputation and no-brainer FOMO mentality. Anyone who owns Apple products, feel elevated to a different level, even if an Android can do the same job – better in some instances. So what makes them stand out from the crowd. So much so, that people would que for hours on end to get the latest upgrade, attachment or update from Apple? This is worth delving into more deeply to understand the psyche of the human experience.
Louise Proddow – Linkedin Article
1.    Beautiful Product Aura
There is something wonderfully tactile about holding an Apple product. The smooth curves and simple lines are instantly recognisable everywhere you go. Apple is not necessarily the first to market with technology features, but instead, they reinvent standards.
Their products are easy to use and deliver seamless interaction that connects to how you live your life, which appeals to everyone, from someone who just requires call and browsing capability to creative influencers and designers.
2.    Relentless Clarity of Vision
Steve Jobs once said ‘ People with passion can change the world’. His vision of a ‘computer for the rest of us’ began the Apple empire, and as his core philosophy for the brand
“The user doesn’t always know what they want”
is carried throughout, Apple have continued to innovate and prove their critics wrong.
When Apple first launched the iPad, critics questioned the vision and said it would fail. Yet Apple continues to innovate and succeed.
3.    Big marketing machine
Apple communicates to its customers based on what they care about. They understand that the experience is what matters, not megabytes.
Their marketing attention to detail sets them apart and just like their sleek simplified designs they keep their message simple and relatable, which gets people talking.
When the iPod launched, a colourful background with a dancing silhouette became instantly recognisable, and the Apple Christmas adverts always bring the family together.
4.    The exclusivity
Prior to a new launch Apple keeps all their exciting new secrets under wraps. Just like their ‘invitation only’ launches, having an iPhone has a badge of exclusivity.
With rumours of a £1000 price tag, the new iPhone 8 would be more than double Apple’s competitor’s products. However customers are also paying for an exclusive user experience, which is as much about being seen with the latest product and the purchase experience.
You can see and feel the raw exclusivity and excitement of buying the latest iPhone on launch day from the hundreds of new phone selfies as people unwrap the latest device.
5.    Loyalty builds growth
Apple, like Harley Davidson, has built up one of the most loyal customer bases globally. With nearly 2bn phones in in circulation and unique IOS they have a distinctive brand and a loyal platform for growth.
Their customer base supports each other, with lots of helpful advice to sort out any technical issues, not the mention the Apple ‘Geniuses’. Their customers are the affluent and the devoted, who have saved up for the brand, all because the using Apple makes them feel better
A brand positioning with the future in mind
Apple’s brand lets you know that they can change your life for the better, by enhancing it with innovation and technology. Their customer’s loyalty is only continuing to grow as they are still being delivered a simple, easy experience on devices that are becoming more powerful and advanced, and I will definitely be in the queue for the iPhone 8 as soon as it launches.

What You Need to Do - The How

Things to consider when developing Loyalty:

  • Respecting and honouring your clients experiences, suggestions and feedback.
  • Finding out how you can align your own values to your customers values.
  • Working out WHY, your own team would remain loyal to you and build alongside you too.
  • Where does financial achievement meet the human experience in terms of fulfilment.
  • Challenging the pressure to join the market at its current value and dumb down your quality to make a sale, rather than step up and stand out at as niche offering.
  • What are your choices realistically to keep your business afloat vs succeeding in abundance?

In the upcoming episodes, I will share ideas, methodologies and creative solutions that I have been experimenting with and have been using effectively within my own businesses.
