Theme – Overview of Season 5

Welcome to the FIRST show of Season 5 Building YOU to BUILD your BUSINESS with Ravin Papiah!

Introduction

In a world where the order of the day is CHAOS and UNCERTAINTY, the only way out to ensure a ‘beyond survival’ existence, and a successful life is the crafting of oneself towards a better version. My Mentor, the Great Jim Rohn says: ‘If you change, everything changes!’. So, the ONUS to your wonderful life is YOU! If you build yourself, your business will grow. But you need to be aware of this fact. As I say: ‘If you are not aware, you are nowhere’.

So, I am grateful to IBGR to give us this platform to make as many people as possible AWARE of the fact that their amazing life depends only on ONE individual, and that individual is the person you see in the MIRROR when you look at same EVERYDAY – yes YOU! You Gentleman, YOU Lady, YOU Entrepreneurs – YOU! And I am thankful to you to having seized this opportunity to come and listen to IBGR radio shows to become AWARE of what’s possible for you, and then take MASSIVE ACTION towards same!

I am super excited to bring this SERIES in Season 5 to you – Building YOU to Build Your Business, where I will share with you how you can BECOME the person that BUILDS that incredibly successful business. It’s ALL POSSIBLE, with a little dedication, some efforts and some sacrifice. Learning is tough but ohhhh how SO much rewarding in the long term. Like my Mentor, Les Brown, says: ‘Suffer now, so you can enjoy a lifetime after!’

Hold on, you will arrive safely at your destination – I trust you and I believe in you! Ravin S. Papiah

SEGMENT 1 – Personal Growth, a Personal Story

I was born a sick child, and the doctors condemned me to a short life span. Not for my mother, for she didn’t believe that the doctors should take a stand on how long I would be living. They said 10 years max, I just celebrated my 55th birthday!

My childhood was a continuous fight to keep my sanity and stay alive, but now when I look back, it was so much worth it. I thank my mother for believing that she could overturn the doctors’ decision of my life.

And I thank myself for fighting to live, for believing I was worth it, for not falling for the inner calls to end my sufferings and my life.

SEGMENT TWO – Self Leadership – what it all means

As we grow, we learn to become leaders. Being a leader is natural for some, and learned for others. No matter how we have become a leader, we must remember that we must lead ourselves before we lead others. Take the time to motivate yourself and realize that you can do it.

Self-leadership involves leading yourself. It involves working on yourself and your skills from the inside out. A self leader develops and takes responsibility for their actions. A self leader has the ability or has learned to have the ability to influence their own thinking, behaviors, and feelings. This person guides themself in positive ways, which equals success.

Before you can be a self-leader, you need to know ways to become a self-leader. Self- leaders are built from within. They are constantly developing themselves. They work hard for what they want, and work even harder to keep it that way.

Sources of self-leadership involve:

  • Self-awareness - Knowing your intentions. Knowing your values. Being aware of what can keep you from becoming a good leader.
  • Self-confidence - Knowing your strengths as well as your abilities. Taking actions to develop skills to build confidence.

  • Self-efficacy - Believing whatever comes your way is something that you can handle.

SEGMENT THREE – the Mindset Equation

‘Whatever the MIND can conceive and BELIEVE, it can ACHIEVE’, says Napoleon Hill.

Your mind, our mind, can be very powerful but can also be very deceitful, for we carry both the POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE and the NEGATIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE. What we choose, we BECOME!

In this section of our Show this season, we are going to talk about how BELIEF, FAITH, ACTION, PERSEVERANCE, and PATIENCE can help us cruise towards our destination despite obstacles, adversities, difficulties and problems.

SEGMENT FOUR – The Anatomy of a Successful Entrepreneurial Journey

So, you want to break into Entrepreneurship, or you already are an Entrepreneur? Well, that’s great, but know that it is no easy feat. There are many steps you must take just to prepare yourself to embark on the journey, and once you have started your business, many more steps to maintain the business. This part of the Show is designed to give you the tools you need to start, run, and grow a business you can be proud of! We are going to talk about Entrepreneurship through all the three main themes: Personal Growth, Self and Team Leadership and the Mindset Equation.

It is often said that entrepreneurs are the backbone of the nation. In fact, I am more than convinced that Entrepreneurs will save the world, especially in this chaotic and unprecedented situation of the Covid19 pandemic. Anyone with the passion and drive can become a successful entrepreneur as long as the planning and execution are done well. The first step to becoming an entrepreneur is choosing the ideal business. The business you choose will be determined by its feasibility as well as your own interests and expertise.

You may be passionate about an idea, but if it is not feasible, you will never be able to make it successful. Feasibility describes how simple it is to accomplish something. Many factors influence feasibility. For example, a dog bakery may be popular in a city with a high rate of dog lovers, but it would not survive in a city with a low rate. Before moving forward with any idea, you must determine its feasibility. This requires an understanding of the market and your customers, which we will cover in-depth in the Show. To determine if an idea is feasible, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you have the necessary funding?
  • Is there a market for your product?
  • What is the outlook for the market?
  • Can you price competitively?
  • How would you operate?
  • Would you have a sufficient customer base for long-term success?

Becoming an entrepreneur is not easy. If you do not enjoy what you do, you are unlikely to be successful. Before you choose your business, you must consider what you enjoy doing and think of a way to make this task profitable. Begin by making a list of your interests and specially your passion and see which ones overlap with feasible business models. For example, a love of animals could translate into a pet sitting service, or a love of cooking could translate into a food truck business.

Experience and expertise are definite benefits to any business. They are often used interchangeably, but this is a mistake. This point and the next one will help define the difference between the two while helping you identify your own experience and expertise.

Experience is something that you gain from observation, encounters, and actions. Many jobs provide experience. For example, working as a server provides experience in the restaurant industry, but it does not necessarily provide expertise. Once you identify your experiences, you can use them to help choose your business. Years in customer service, for example, would help prepare you for a business that is customer service oriented.

Expertise has knowledge and skills that come with education and training. This can come from the work experience in specialized positions and from degrees in certain fields. For example, an expert would be an accountant or a chef would be considered experts in their field. Being an expert at a business makes you more capable of running it. If you are not an expert, there is no reason to give up on your idea. If you are passionate about something, take the time to become an expert, (or HIRE the services of an EXPERT). For example, you can learn necessary skills by taking classes or interning at other businesses.
