The Thanksgiving holiday signals the time of year when we gather with our family and friends. We take time out of our schedules to pause and be thankful for those things that we have and build new memories that last into future holiday seasons. In 2020 we have had a very rough year not just here in the United States but all over the world. We have had to deal with the impacts of COVID-19, social distancing, shutdowns, the loss of income and most tragically the loss of life. In the United States the news cycle constantly reminds us to be safe but also of the grim reality of what we are living through in 2020. On top of the COVID-19 related issues, we have had to deal with social unrest triggered by incidents leading to the death of several African Americans at the hands of the police, and an unprecedented Presidential election cycle.
These have been tough times but know that there are pockets of people that are making the most out of this opportunity. How can I call the impacts of this past year an opportunity? It all depends on your perspective. Today is a special episode that highlights the perspective of 3 long-time entrepreneurs, Jerome Myers, Sonny Smith, and Debbee Jeter. I recorded interviews earlier this week so I could be true to my commitment to you, the radio station, and my family! I hope that you enjoy these interviews and that you find our conversations valuable.
Let’s get growing
Over the past few weeks we have talked about overcoming limiting beliefs, the reason you want to find your tribe, and Why your Why matters. This week I wanted to provide some additional perspective by interviewing 3 long-time entrepreneurs and unpacking what they are grateful for and how they overcame obstacles in 2020. You will hear how two of Jerome’s clients are having the best financial year of their life! Why Debbee started her latest business as a result of the pandemic. You will also hear words of encouragement from a sage entrepreneurial veteran, Sonny Smith, who was in business for himself for over 40 years before retiring.
The objective of this episode is to provide a small sliver of hope to you by highlighting some positive stories that have happened in the midst of the turmoil of 2020. You will also hear a heart of gratitude expressed by each person that was interviewed. Gratitude helps to provide you with an open perspective that allows you to see the opportunities that today has to offer.
