PROFIT RADIO..."Grow With Us"

Introduction
“Man may become the master of himself, and of his environment, because he has the power to influence his own subconscious mind.” -- Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

“We are disturbed, not by the events of our life, but by the views we take of them.” -- Epictetus

Last week we introduced the steps to take an idea and turn it into a vision with goals attached in order to bring our dreams to life. This week we are exploring the myth of Reality. Too often, when we are gifted with an idea, our perception kicks in and begins to show us all the ways our idea will fail. This is not based on our current reality. It is always measured against our past experiences.

In order for your idea to grow into what Hill calls a “burning desire” we need to combine the ideas from our previous shows. Let’s take a look at where we have gone so far...

  • In our first episode, we discovered that our thoughts always precede our results.
  • In our second episode we learned that our success instinct (belief in our abilities) is programmed by our self image.
  • Then in the third episode the idea was introduced that how we choose to use our imagination either strengthens our current self image or fortifies the person we want to become. We are always using our imagination - either constructively or destructively.
  • Last week, we focused on how to turn a wish or an idea into a desire to act. The question was asked, “Can you imagine yourself having your desired outcome?” Until we can fully imagine ourselves having our desired outcome, we will never become the person who achieves it.

This week we are visiting the idea of “reality.” One definition of reality says, “the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them.” I beg to differ. Nothing “actually exists.” What does exist is how we interpret the world or state of things. What makes the world or the state of things good or bad? Clearly it is the emotion we choose to subscribe to it.

Don’t believe me? Try this...Have you ever gone to a movie and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread? Yet your movie partner cringed the entire time and couldn’t wait for it to be over? What about witnesses at a crime scene? How do five different people all have a different view of what took place? What about politics, neighborhoods, religion. Where is the reality there?

Today’s show will explore perception and how we can master our perceptions in order to take our idea, our dream, and turn it into the burning desire that Hill says is the starting point of all achievement.

I encourage you to listen to this series with an open mind and be willing to receive new ideas. Then continue the conversation in a special group I have created just for you in our IBGR Entrepreneurs' Community Network  called The Business Owner's Bookshelf where I have put downloadable copies of two of the books we will be exploring. The easiest way to listen and engage is inside the IBGR app for Android or iOS. See you on the inside...

Objectives - The WHY
How do we turn up the heat and create a burning desire for our desired outcome? We do it by first recognizing that reality is a myth and then we apply natural law to change our perceptions of what is possible.

All reality is filtered first through our perceptions. And our perceptions are filtered through our own past experiences through our five senses. If that is true, and it is, how then can reality be defined as the way things “actually exist?” Good or bad? Well, compared to what? The Law of Polarity says that they must both exist. We can’t have day without night or hot without cold. What we need is something to measure it against. The Law of Relativity always asks, “Compared to what?”

When we combine the Law of Polarity with the Law of Relativity we create our reality. It is created through our perception of how we interpret the world or the state of things.
You can use Autosuggestion to take your desire and turn up the heat to create a burning desire.

Key Issues - Owner Perspective:
Not understanding that Reality is a myth. What we perceive as reality is actually our response to a situation or circumstance that is filtered through our five senses and past experiences.

What You Need to Know - The WHAT
  • Nothing is either good or bad, large or small, positive or negative until we relate it to something else (Law of Relativity).
  • We can’t control other people, our situations or our circumstances, but can completely control our own thinking and how we respond.
  • The way we choose to look at things creates images in our minds. Remember, imagination is the first key to activating your success instinct.
  • Too often we mistake our interpretations as reality. Events and interactions can actually be very different to our perceptions.
  • Our past programming determines what we are aware of and how we then interpret and explain what we are aware of.
  • When we develop our perception muscles, we can see more of what we want to see, less of what we don’t want to see and we can become aware of opportunities that we previously failed to see.

What You Need to Do - The HOW
  1. Develop your “Perception Muscles” through reflection
    1. Think of an event in your life that you perceived as bad at the time
    2. List all the things that you learned from that event and how you are different today because of it.
    3. Would you do anything differently in the same situation today?
    4. How did this event help you make better future decisions?
    5. How did you grow from this event?
  2. Listen to the Business Owner’s Bookshelf Series
  3. Download the IBGR Business Growth App
  4. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation.
