It is hard to believe that Season 6 is here!  I am looking forward to being here with you on the Smart and Savvy Exit again this season.

It is hard to believe that this year is now halfway over. I have spent the last few days thinking about how my business has changed and what I have learned during the pandemic. A year ago, there was a lot of fear and uncertainty about the future, not only my company’s future but the future many of the small businesses in this country.  I have felt frustrated at times seeing the struggle everyone has gone through.

But as I look back at the year, I feel certain some of the changes might not have happened. Not only has the way to do business has changed for many of us, but for me there was a renewed focus and more important for me, was I learned to rely on the help of others when working through the challenges I faced. The encouragement of my group of fellow business owners and friends helped me to see my business differently. I went from being a solopreneur to having a scalable business with employees. I started practicing the advice I give my clients every day. Imagine that. I am happy to say that though it is a lot of work, I feel my business is moving in the right direction, and I am excited to see what the future holds. My heart is still breaking for those who are struggling and are still being adversely affected by the result of a year of shutdowns that limited the ability to compete. I pray every day for all of them.

On Sunday we celebrated the United States Independence Day. I without a doubt I still believe this is the greatest country on earth, and that it still provides tremendous opportunity to anyone who wants to work for it. That is why I am optimistic for the future even after this past year and what we have had to endure. I give a big thanks to everyone who has had a part in making America what it is today and especially to those who have fought to keep it that way.

Today is our first show of season 6.  This season is going to be a little different.  This season will be a review of my book The Big Turnaround: How bad management nearly destroyed an exceptional company. There are several tips throughout the book that I will be expanding on that could be of help to any small business owner.  And more importantly, can help build value for a successful exit. 8. August 31 – It is time to become community minded.
9. September 7 – The big move…what a mess.
10. September 14 – A big change. The shake-up everyone needed.
11. September 21 – They did it!
12. September 28 – We will look back on the previous weeks.
