Maxwell If Leadership is Influence, then Leadership starts by SELF-LEADERSHIP! AS USUAL, I am really excited for today’s show – Why? Because today I will AGAIN be talking about YOU! Yes, YOU! The Good YOU, The Amazing YOU, the Incredible YOU, and a bit of the BAD YOU! The Corona Virus, has manifested itself some two years ago, bringing the world to a standstill, and causing damages in the economy and in loss of millions of lives from around the globe. It has forced us into a new way of living – what people are calling now the “New Normal” What is the New Normal? IN TODAY’S SHOW, I am going to share with you some insights into this new normal we are all living in due to the Pandemic, and lessons that I have personally learned during my crisis so far….
THRIVING IN THE NEW NORMAL SEGMENT ONE – What is Covid19? On 31 December 2019, WHO was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan City, China. A novel coronavirus was identified as the cause by Chinese authorities on 7 January 2020 and was temporarily named “2019-nCoV”. The current scientific consensus is that the virus is most likely of zoonotic origin, from bats or another closely-related mammal. 'CO' stands for corona, 'VI' for virus, and 'D' for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as '2019 novel coronavirus' or '2019-nCoV.' The COVID-19 virus is a new virus linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of common cold. The most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all coronaviruses is estimated to have existed as recently as 8000 BCE, although some models place the common ancestor as far back as 55 million years or more, implying long term coevolution with bat and avian species. Globally, as of 5:33pm CEST, 7 July 2021, there have been 184,324,026 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,992,680 deaths, reported to WHO. As of 7 July 2021, a total of 3,032,056,355 vaccine doses have been administered. How can someone be infected by COVID-19? As per WHO, A person can be infected when aerosols or droplets containing the virus are inhaled or come directly into contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. The virus can also spread in poorly ventilated and/or crowded indoor settings, where people tend to spend longer periods of time. People may also become infected by touching surfaces that have been contaminated by the virus when touching their eyes, nose or mouth without cleaning their hands. There are many things you can do to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from COVID-19. Know your risks to lower risks. Follow these basic precautions:

During a crisis, bad leadership (SELF/TEAM) precipitates a faster fall while good leadership offers steadiness and perseverance. There are never two good consecutive days in a leader’s life, which means that leaders should be used to rough times. A crisis is several consecutive bad days that you can’t walk away from. My Mentor, John C. Maxwell, defines a crisis as “an intense time of difficulty requiring a decision that will be a turning point.” With everything going on in the world right now, our current global situation certainly meets that definition! The good news is, this crisis—like all crises—will eventually pass. The challenge for the leader ( for YOU!) is to stay strong and steady through the duration. Why do you think a crisis makes it easier to distinguish between good and bad leaders, that is YOU because everyone of us we are Leaders, it is just that we are not aware of it?
What experience do you have in leading during a time of crisis?

It pulls you away from your life focus and towards something else. Whether it’s the breaking news alerts on the evening news, or a panicked report from the Stock Market, there are plenty of things seeking to pull a your attention away from the issue at hand. You experience three things:
When you get distracted, you lose sight of reality, lose touch with hope, and fall prey to anxiety, which in turn, infects the people in your surroundings. Just because someone else’s sky is falling it doesn’t mean that your sky is falling too! We must discipline ourselves to stay focused in times of crisis. Why do you think it is so easy for people to get distracted during a crisis?
What are some good ways you can maintain focus during these times of distraction?
What are some helpful ideas for positive thinking during times of challenge? Keep listening to the Show…or download the podcast to learn more about Thriving in the New Normal…. SEGMENT FOUR – CHARACTER IN A CRISIS Crisis reveals our character in many ways: It shows who we are on the inside, and puts our ability to adapt to shifting circumstances on display. As my Mentor John C. Maxwell says: “You’re not made in a crisis—you’re revealed.” Often people think that a crisis forges character, but that’s not true: Our choices shape our character, and a crisis simply reveals the results of those choices. People who lapse into complaining mode, or who begin blaming others when things get tough, are people whose bad choices are being brought to light. The good news is that the adversity that unmasks us today can build character in us tomorrow—if we are willing to learn from the mistake. We can learn to shift for the better, even in the midst of crisis. Just like successful football coaches are able to make adjustments at halftime, great people/ great leaders for that sake, can adapt to the uncertainty of the moment and find a proactive solution that creates forward momentum. Adaptable people/leaders can turn adversity into advantage.
