Employers expect more from their people, which leads to them feeling more pressure to achieve greater results. Consequently, this leads to longer working hours, and less time spent at home. When thinking about what work life balance means, most of us envision equalizing a see-saw (with work on one side and the rest of your life on the other side). And we think that we’re supposed to equalize both sides, focusing on the amount of time spent on each side of the see-saw. However, the truth is that work-life balance is a relative term to an individual and so defining it would be thinking about what truly matters and how the person prioritizes personal and professional life to find a balance.
